“Thundering Blogstorm” rocks the universe and breaks reality.

The Colbert storm is still raging across the Blogosphere. Many petawatts of electricity are being used to power the infrastructure for this venting of collective electrons. Blogs much more bombastic than mine are pounding the net with outrage at the pathetic whimperings of hang-dog White House Correspondents pretending not to be in awe of Stephen Colbert’s shear magnitude of coolness. The Chicago Sun-Times has this:

A “blogstorm” is thundering across liberal Web sites. Many liberals are furious at the White House press corps for virtually ignoring Stephen Colbert’s keynote speech at the press corp’s own White House Correspondents’ Dinner last Saturday. To non-liberals, this may seem like an isolated complaint. To liberals, it further justifies their belief that the media, particularly TV news, is a big stinking cabal of conservatives

Basically, the whole Stephen Colbert thing doesn’t amount to much, the same way that the crazy antics of the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix really had no significant effect on public policy, but felt so empowering to those involved. Are we maybe just having our energies chanelled into battles that don’t win anything real? That is something worth contemplating, but it takes nothing away from the pure joy I experienced during Colbert’s speech. It was a real moment. Something was happening in real time in actual reality. -Blake
