Things are growing like weeds, in addition to being surrounded by weeds here on the homestead. Allow me to provide a general roundup of what I spied on my wanderings today.
When we bought this place, the old fellow who had lived here had just planted two teensy (maybe 5-6″ tall) bare root stick-like grapes next to the garage. We didn’t think much of it, but I gave them compost and mulch and they exploded in the past three Summers and have now started create a lovely shaded canopy over the chicken yard.
The best thing? This year we’ll finally get grapes from them!
I’m pleased as punch with the beautiful bird feeder Blake gave me for our anniversary last weekend. So far the nuthatches and chickadees are enjoying it immensely.
And finally, a couple of pretty flower pictures, just because. Some basic delicious smelling Oriental lilies. I like this pale pink….I’m not normally a fan of pink, but I think these are a nice contrast to the more typical Stargazer.
And finally my second miniature rose from The Uncommon Rose, Green Ice, is blooming like crazy. They’re not a very obvious icy green because the plant is getting a lot of sun and supposedly the flowers are much more green tinged when in the shade, but I still think they’re mighty pretty. They also have a very delicate citrus smell. Yum.

Wow! Those are absolutely beautiful flowers. I’ve always had a thing for white but slightly tinted green flowers.
